"Penn’s Cartage run triple road trains gross­ing 145 tonne up the Great Central Road servicing stations, remote communities, stores and power stations along the way. The furthest drop is over 1400 kms from its Kalgoorlie home base at the Gilles Weather Station, in a remote corner near the WA/NT border. Gary and Sandra Penn established Penn’s in 1969, in partnership with Gary’s brother, Neil. At the time the transport operation was primarily focussed on servicing the Kalgoorlie district’s farmers; hauling general, livestock, fuel and wool with a couple of old Bedfords and a Maple Leaf Chevrolet.
