Rig 1 is a DM 45E Ingersoll Rand drill rig, capable of completing any drilling requirements from RC exploration, RC grade control and Down The Hole (DTH) hammer blast-hole drilling. Rig 1 was the first machine in the VM fleet and has been taken to numerous contracts for a variety of work from grade control in open cut pits through to 400m Iron ore holes in rugged terrain. In early 2010 a complete machine rebuild was undertaken on Rig 1 and this included the installation of a 300 meter rod bin, a Sandvick automated rod handler, a complete mechanical overhaul and a new paint job.
Some safety features fitted to Rig 1 include our patented TJM Hands-free breakout system, on board dust suppression, fire suppression, Australian standard guarding handrails, step ladders and platforms with a complete walk around walkway and three access ladders for entry and exit from all areas. Rig 1 is also fitted with complete electrical shutdown functions and a hydraulic isolation system has been fitted to the cyclone and sampling controls. Rig one is equipped for both day and night shift with the instillation of HID work lights around the drill platform, mast and sampling area for optimum visibility on night shift. The rig has a fully enclosed cab with air conditioning for operator comfort which helps to reduce the risk of heat stress in extreme environments. It also offers the driller complete protection from the slips table, rotating rods and excessive noise
Rig ones track base has been fitted with a specialized water injection system. This system utilizes onboard water to cool the tracks and track rollers during tramming over considerable distances helping to eliminate downtime and assisting our clients in keeping with their production schedules.
Set up for mineral exploration, resource definition or blast hole drilling the total flexibility of this rig gives the client the ability to fully utilize this unit for any applications in the mining environment.
